This study explores the innovation and practical application of the 5E teaching model in university English reading and writing course, based on Project-Based Learning (PBL). The 5E, which includes: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate, provides a student-centered framework that improves positive learning and critical thinking. And it is a suitable educational tool for language acquisition. PBL focuses on real-world problem-solving and cooperative learning. This study is determined to incorporate PBL and the 5E teaching model to enhance college students' reading and writing skills. In order to achieve the higher-order teaching objectives--autonomy and creativity, the research investigates the effectiveness of this combined approach, which includes students' language proficiency, engagement, and performance outcomes. Through surveys, interviews, and daily performance assessments, data were gathered. The results can evaluate the effects of the PBL and the 5E model on students stimulation, engagement, and academic performance. The findings indicate that this method significantly promotes students' reading and writing abilities in English, strengthen their critical thinking and cooperation skills. A more dynamic and interactive learning environment is created. This research offers valuable insights into the practical implementation of the 5E model and underscoring its potential to transform conventional language teaching model.
