ABSTRACT

As China's aging process accelerates, the mental health problems of the elderly are becoming more and more prominent. However, the current psychological education system for the elderly in China has many deficiencies, making it difficult to effectively respond to this serious challenge. The purpose of this paper is to explore the feasible strategies to improve the psychological education system for the elderly in China. The study first evaluates the existing geropsychological education system, analyzes its strengths and weaknesses, and compares it with international advanced practices. Second, it explores the major barriers affecting psychogeriatric education, including institutional policies, social culture, and education and training. Finally, a series of strategic recommendations are made, including policy and institutional reforms, socio-cultural initiatives, and education and training improvements, aiming to enhance the mental health of older adults. It is found that the effectiveness of psychogeriatric education can be significantly improved through policy support, social participation, and educational reform, providing strong support to meet the challenges of an aging society. The research results in this paper are of great significance in promoting the development of China's geropsychological education system, and also provide a reference for further research in related fields.
