This article focuses on optimizing the public participation mechanism in environmental management. It explores the importance of public participation in environmental management, highlighting its value from both theoretical and practical perspectives. By reviewing the current situation, it identifies several issues with public participation, including insufficient information access, inadequate channels for participation, lack of awareness and capability to participate, and a lack of mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of participation. To address these issues, the article suggests improving the environmental information disclosure system, broadening information dissemination channels, creating diversified participation channels, enhancing the convenience of public participation, boosting public awareness and capability to participate, strengthening environmental education and training, establishing an evaluation mechanism for the effectiveness of participation, and ensuring the effectiveness of public participation. This study aims to provide theoretical support and practical guidance for improving the public participation mechanism in environmental management, promoting cooperation between the government and enterprises, jointly addressing environmental challenges, and achieving harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
