ABSTRACT

The serious disease insurance system for urban and rural residents is a unique medical security initiative in China, reflecting the basic strategy of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. However, with the aging population and the changing disease spectrum among the elderly, several unresolved issues persist within this insurance system. This paper analyzes these problems, identifies their root causes, and proposes targeted countermeasures to enhance the effectiveness of serious disease insurance in addressing elderly health concerns.
